Mobile
A question. Is it worth renting a cellular phone for 10 days in Japan? 250 yen/day plus 80 yen/minute. Assuming 5 minutes of talk time a day that comes to 6500 yen or about sixty bucks. I'm not sure that's worth the effort. I guess instead I'll just view this as an opportunity to be temporarily free of the subtle tyranny of the omnipresent phone connection.

I vote no phone, it's kind of a nice break. have fun!
At best, you will use it 2 minutes a week, not 5 minutes a day.
I probably don't use five minutes a day on my phone here.
For $60 I'd just do it for the security of it. No, you're not going to be chatting on it, but if you got in a bad situation it would be a lifeline. And public phones abroad are the worst to figure out.
